Always Willing

I always argue against putting the 'free' in front of 'will'.

T. Anderson: "I'm late on this thread but I assumed you were arguing in favor of free will. No? I mean, computers have simple "will," who cares?”

They have NO will. If they do, you'll have to tell me its origins.

T. Anderson: "Sure they do, forced upon will. We have forced upon will too.”

Your idea of will and mine have no similarities.

T. Anderson: "It's basically the same. Computers are programmed to will and so are humans IF they were created."

Will is desire. Desire isn't a program. What non-program desires does a computer possess?

T. Anderson: "Will/desire can be programmed."

S. Curless: "What exactly are you trying to say about human will? You wrote, "I always argue against putting the 'free' in front of 'will'." Could you elaborate...as clearly as possible?"

Will is desire. You can't stop desire.

S. Curless: "So, how does this pertain to the OP of this thread? Are you saying that will, as unstoppable "desire," is NOT "free" to be other than it is? And if so, what do you see as the ramifications of this?"

It only has one nature: Go!

S. Curless: "That's your best answer to my previous questions?"

Not necessarily. Your question implies there is more than one mode for will.

S. Curless: "Could you elaborate?"

T. Anderson: "Will doesn't mean consciousness."

No, I told you what it means. Consciousness is when Subject is conscious of object. No object awareness is the state of unconciousness.
